Family Testimonials
Melissa
Our family became involved with Tae Kwon Do when my daughter was four. As parents we were looking for an activity for her that provided an interest, physical activity, focus and of course fun. Tae Kwon Do has accomplished all of these goals. She is now eight and on her way to becoming a black belt this October. Watching her be so focused on a goal has carried over into her school work and has helped her to be aware of the kind of person she is growing into on a daily basis. With his sister being so successful, my rambunctious so was self interested in becoming involved with Tae Kwon Do when he turned four. It has given him an out let for his energy that has helped him focus on himself in all aspects of life. They have both gained a sincere sense of respect for the responsibilities they have to learn the different components of Tae Kwon Do. It is such a proud moment for a parent to watch their children not only do well but to gain respect and apply it to life.
As for us parents, we began Tae Kwon Do as a new challenge in our lives at our age. It’s a journey for us to have the goal of black belt to strive towards; but more importantly it’s become a family activity that we can share in, talk about and help each other with that has brought us closer. It’s also the pride you feel when your children look at you with revered respect because you are doing something “cool” with them. They get truly interested with how well you are doing and sit through out testing’s to let us know how we did.
The instructors are patient and have a great demeanor when they present the skills to you. They understand that they work with various levels of abilities within each group and level, yet they are able to work together towards the mastery of skills for each individual. They work with you to develop your strengths as well as to identify and work on your weaknesses. This school has made such a difference for our family and it has been great to be a part of it over the years.
Steven
First let me introduce ourselves to you. My name is Steve, my wife is Kelly, our son is Ben and our daughters name is Emily. We have been taking Tae Kwon Do as a family for a little over one year now. Our children however began a year before my wife and I decided to start taking classes.
All four of us love the challenge of Tae Kwon Do. It is a fantastic way for a family to experience a challenge together. As parents we feel that we can help teach our children that with hard work and commitment you can accomplish your goals, in this case the ultimate goal is that of Black Belt.
Tae Kwon Do is also a great way to get into shape. Its exercise but its fun, we are all in better physical condition, thanks to U.S. Tae Kwon Do.
The Masters (instructors) are expert at their sport. They have actually devoted their lives to Tae Kwon Do. I cannot imagine more expert instruction than that given by the Masters at U.S. Tae Kwon Do. They understand each students needs and instruct them accordingly and a bond is established between teacher and student. We highly recommend U.S. Tae Kwon Do and look forward to continuing our training there.
Irena and Timmy

Last summer my son Timothy and I suffered a huge loss. I lost my husband to cancer when our son was only 4. It was a time that I needed to focus my energies on something positive and productive. Martial Arts was something that I had always wanted to do but somehow had never gotten around to it. One day I drove by the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Center and decided to stop in. I liked what I heard and the energy I felt was very appealing. My son and I signed up to start in the fall just after his 5th birthday. Although I thought I might be too old to start working on my black belt, I really wanted to do it.
The curriculum, the goals, and the philosophy all seemed to be just what I needed for my son. As a single mother I knew I had to develop a strong sense of self and be a positive role model in my son's life. Patience was also something that I hoped we could both develop in Tae Kwon Do. We are both green belts now and our goal is to obtain our black belts. It is a commitment and will take a lot of work but we both really enjoy it.
The staff at the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Center have been wonderful, they are dedicated and hardworking. There are times when Tim is very tired and struggles to come to class, but once I get him there, the USTC staff are very patient and always manage to motivate him.
The other students are great. They are helpful, friendly, and very supportive. I felt that Tim and I fit in right away at the school. We enjoy our individual as well as family class time. In particular, we love Board Breaking class as they are always so much fun. I'm very glad I made the decision for us to join the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Center.
Ed & Kacie
My name is Ed and my daughter’s name is Kacie. She’s six years old and I’m 44. We joined USTC in November of 2003. In the short time that we have been here, I’ve noticed positive changes in Kacie’s attitude and behavior. She shows more respect towards people and is more focused in her school work.
I attribute these changes in Kacie to the discipline and respect being instilled in her by the instructors at US Tae Kwon Do. They lead by example, teach with patience, and provide positive motivation to ensure each student’s progress. As for myself, I’m fulfilling a lifelong desire to work towards a black belt. When I was younger I took a few classes, but I never followed through and it has always been in the back of my mind. Now I am in the best shape I have been in in many, many years (too many).
We take class together on Saturdays and we practice at home. Tae Kwon Do has definitely brought us closer together as a family and I would highly recommend US Tae Kwon Do to anyone looking to improve their lives and spend quality time together as a family.
